Mattresses

Open Coil

Also known as bonnel springs. These springs are all joined together in a metal frame. They are low cost and mass produced spring units. They are commonly found in hostels, hotels, b&b's and some rental accommodation.

They are filled with either traditional fillings which include, felt, nylon, polyester, and cotton. They can also be found with a layer of memory foam on top instead.

They dont offer a full support and would not be recommended to anyone with existing back or joint problems.

Pocket Sprung

Pocket springs are a premium spring unit. All the springs are individual and are stitched into their own 'pocket'. This allows them to all independently move and contour to the body providing a more supportive sleep. These mattresses last longer than an open coil mattress because they compress separately.

They can be filled with either traditional fillings or memory foam. The latter providing even more support and a longer comfort life.

Memory Foam

Memory foam mattresses provide the most supportive and comfortable sleeping experience. It provides pressure relief meaning blood can flow better around the body allowing a deeper sleep for longer.

The foam has a longer life span as well. This is because it doesn't have any 'moving' parts to break. Memory foam remembers its own shape and not a body shape.

Memory foam mattresses are also more hygienic. Most of them come with removable, washable, hypoallergenic covers allowing you to wash it in a washing machine.

Memory Foam Mattresses would be a perfect recommendation for people suffering with back and joint problems.
